In this weekly Q&A column, I post questions from students and from people who attend my presentations along with my answers.
Here is this week’s question:
THIS WEEK’S QUESTION: Can self-efficacy reduce stress?
ANSWER: Once you learn to detect prodromes—early, subtle symptoms—you then can choose to use a method to reduce stress. Examples of effective methods include slow diaphragmatic breathing, mindfulness meditation, autogenic training, mental imagery, and cognitive restructuring.
